For Shabbat! Song Lyrics

Track 1: How Good It Is, How Sweet It Is
© Emily Aronoff 2009

How good it is, how sweet it is
Sitting with my sisters and brothers
How good it is, how sweet it is
sharing peace with one another

Hinei mah tov umah naim shevet achim gam yachad

How good it is, how sweet it is
Clapping with my sisters and brothers
How good it is, how sweet it is
sharing peace with one another

Hinei mah tov umah naim shevet achim gam yachad

How good it is, how sweet it is
Tapping Toes with my sisters and brothers
How good it is, how sweet it is
sharing peace with one another

Hinei mah tov umah naim shevet achim gam yachad

“Hinei Mah Tov” is one of the most popular Jewish texts, the words have been set to countless melodies.

This version is a “zipper” song- so feel free to add any movement to make this song your own!

Track 2: Zum Gali Gali (folk)

Chorus
Zum Gali Gali Gali, Zum Gali Gali (x4)

He Chalutz l’ma’an avodah, avodah l’ma’an he chalutz
He Chalutz l’ma’an avodah, avodah l’ma’an he chalutz

Chorus

Pioneers will work on the land, boys and girl- we’ll work hand in hand
Pioneers will work on the land, boys and girl- we’ll work hand in hand

Track 3: JCC (There’s Always a Place for Me)
© 2009 Emily Aronoff

Chorus:
There’s always a place for me
And my family
My favorite place to be
Is at the JCC

I came in with a ‘binkie,’ and I’ll go out with a book
Everyday we learn and grow, just take one quick look
I learn to play and use my words, about what is right and fair
I learn my colors, how to count, make friends and how to share

Chorus

Verse 2
Shabbat Parties every week might be the most fun
Our families and all the school celebrates as one
We light the candles, bless the juice and sing our Sabbath Prayer
My favorite part is the Challah, there’s enough to share!

Chorus

May the Lord protect and defend you
May the Lord preserve you from shame
May you come to be
In Yisrael a shining name

May you be like Ruth and like Esther
May you be deserving of praise
Strengthen us, Oh Lord,
And Keep us from the strangers’ ways.

May God bless you and grant you long lives
(May the Lord fulfill our Sabbath prayer for you)
May God keep you and shield you from strife
(May God in God’s wisdom always care for you)

May the Lord protect and defend you (may the lord protect and defend you)
May the Lord preserve you from pain (may the lord preserve you from pain)
Favor us, Oh Lord, (favor us oh lord)
with happiness and peace (with happiness)
Oh, hear our Sabbath prayer
Amen (x4)
